Adding Modifying Attendance Records
In general you need to know that teachers or administrators can
add/modify/delete attendance information. Administrators can modify
any attendance record, HOWEVER, teachers can only modify attendance
records that they have personally recorded. Therefore it is important
to know who added an attendance record when it comes to modifying
attendance information. A teacher cannot modify attendance records
added by an administrator or other teachers. Keeping this in mind,
make sure that you are logged-in as either a teacher or administrator
and refer to the basic instructions below.
1. Login as a Teacher or an Administrator
2. Enter the Teacher or Administrator section
3. Select the button in the bottom menu labeled: "Attendance" and you
will be presented with icons to: SEARCH absences, EDIT absences, ADD
absences, and DELETE absences.
4. For this example we will add an absence for an existing student in year 12
5. Select the "ADD" icon
6. You will be presented with a search form to locate the student(s)
that you wish to add the absence for
7. Perform the search: for this example, type "12" into the first
grade text box and click the "search" button.
8. Your search results, a list of names matching your criteria, will
be displayed in the left hand frame
9. Select a student by clicking on their name
10. You will be presented with an attendance form
11. To record the student as being absent, just click the "Add to
Database" button
12. If a reason is provided, it can be entered at the time that an
absence is recorded or an administrator can add it later for example.
(Remember from above that a SchoolMation Administrator could very
well be a school secretary or advisor, etc.)
